The Bold Collection

Whether it is unapologetically bright colors, a riot of blooms, or an unusual perspective, the jubilant images in my Bold Collection are united by their bold presence.

Some images evolved from extended photo sessions, while others represent whimsy or inspiration when a pop of color suddenly caught my eye. Such was the case with Sky Thistle, an engaging contrast of drying thistles on an aging metal table, and the Tulip Meadow, which was photographed near my childhood home, in St Paul, Minnesota. The pop of the red jumped out at me that day. I lay flat against the sidewalk and looked up to the sky and the top of nearby trees. I wanted to shoot from an angle that made the tulips large and majestic.
